Milk

Milk is the basis for every delicious pudding. In addition to delicious whole milk, Paula also uses skimmed milk. This has the advantage that it contains less fat than whole milk. In combination, Paula achieves a more balanced pudding enjoyment.

But where does the milk actually come from? The milk comes from the cow, that's obvious, isn't it? Of course, Paula knows that better than anyone. But not all milk is the same! First of all, there is raw milk - milk that is taken directly from the cow's udder. This fresh raw milk is processed into delicious whole milk or skimmed milk. For PAULA Pudding, the milk is heat-treated, cooled and finally processed into pudding.

Sugar

You probably know sugar in the form of cubes or fine grains. But where does this sugar actually come from? It can be obtained from sugar beet or sugar cane. But milk also naturally contains sugar, namely milk sugar (lactose). Paula's pudding contains two types of sugar: milk sugar and sugar from sugar beet or sugar cane. A pudding without sugar would not taste the way you know it. Or have you ever tried a pudding without sugar? Even though Paula has a real sweet tooth, she has started to stir less sugar into her pudding. PAULA therefore contains only enough sugar to make the pudding taste pleasantly sweet and delicious.

Cocoa

Cocoa has been around for a very, very long time. Already the Maya and Aztecs have enjoyed the cocoa bean. After harvesting, the cocoa beans are dried and first processed into cocoa paste. Then the cocoa butter will be pressed out and ground/crushed, the result is ground cocoa, which also gives the PAULA chocolate pudding its typical taste. For her cocoa, Paula works with Rainforest Alliance to support sustainable cocoa farming. The Rainforest Alliance is a non-profit organisation that works for a more sustainable world on a social and market economy level. The aim is to improve the living conditions of farmers, workers and their families, to preserve nature and to protect the environment. And Paula thinks that's really cool!

Starch

Starch can be obtained from various plants, e.g. potatoes, corn, wheat, rice or tapioca. In PAULA Pudding we use modified tapioca starch. It is extracted from the root of the useful plant cassava and is particularly suitable for making Paula's pudding nice and creamy.

Protein (milk protein product)

Protein is very important for the human body. It mainly provides building material for muscles and organs. The protein product in Paula’s pudding is obtained from milk.

Thickening agent (carrageenan)

Thickening agents are there to bind liquids. In PAULA Pudding, the carrageenan, together with the starch, ensures a creamy consistency and the special spot shape of PAULA Pudding. This is the only way for the spotted pudding to look like our Paula.

Flavouring

For the typical PAULA vanilla flavour, a vanilla flavouring is added. Without this flavouring, Paula would not taste of vanilla, but of milk. Paula and her fans love her vanilla flavour.

Colouring (carotene)

The colouring carotene gives the vanilla pudding spots their bright yellow colour. Together with the chocolate pudding, this makes a really cool splodges pattern.

Stabiliser (sodium carbonate)

Just like at home on the cooker, the pudding has to be heated to thicken it. It also makes it last longer. The stabiliser protects the milk from burning and is important because Paula doesn't like the taste of burnt pudding.
